At the beginning only used for utility purposes, rubber boots are now connected to new markets: they are more and more 'trendy'.

       Firstly, rubber boots were made for very specific & different purposes: they were called farmer boots, riding boots, rain boots or snow boots, and this was not necessary connected to an aesthetic aspect. When Hutchinson created in 1853 his first models of rubber boots, he was above all fulfilling French farmers wishes who still wore wooden clogs then. For a long time the only purpose of gumboots was to be useful, waterproof and comfortable, then they were associated to more 'technical' aspects. Nowadays people's minds are more open to boots and among them to rubber boots, which we won't confuse to plastic ones.

       Over is the time when plastic wellies were all the same, not very comfortable, and used only by gardeners on Sundays. Nowadays RUBBER boots are as well useful as trendy. Some designers created many uptodate rubber boots, so they become in the meantime very comfortable and very beautiful, for youngers as well as for olders.

       Nowadays, everywhere in the world, nice looking wellies, of different colours and shapes, are well worn as well in downtown as in the country, by men and by women; and everybody is now convinced by them : you can see young people wearing them in Music Festivals in Europe or Japan, stars on stage in USA or Asia, or people in the streets of trendy metropoles such as London, Shanghai, Paris, Tokyo, New York or Hong Kong...
