A French film written & directed by Isabelle Mergault

   Aymé Pigrenet who has just lost his wife, is not overwhelmed by grief, but cannot cope with the amount of work that in future he will have to do on his own at the farm. So he decides to call a marriage agency, whose manageress suggests that he goes to Romania where there are girls who will do anything to leave their country, just to get out of the extreme poverty in which they are living and it is there, in Romania, that Aymé comes across Elena.

   He is immediately attracted by Elena because she looks strong, is in good health, and will be perfectly able to cope with farm work. On her side, Elena is ready for anything so that her 6 years old daughter will not know the miserable life her mother knew. She follows Aymé to his farm...

   In many scenes (but not always), Aymé (Michel Blanc) wears khaki rubber boots. Elena (Medeea Marinescu) also wears them on the farm as does a young dumb apprentice...
